Family for Sale

I am a poor plebeian living on the streets of Rome without enough money to feed my family. I am posting this ad to sell my wife, 2 daughters, and son. They can work hard and will be loyal.

You may be thinking that I am a monster for selling them, but it’s for their own good. When I went into the war for Rome, I fought hard and we ended up winning. However, when I came back to my family and farm, they were both gone. When I finally tracked down my family, they told me that they had to sell their land to the latifundia because they were starving. So we were stuck on the streets, living in our own filth and begging for money. Also, the streets of Rome are infested with criminals and it is not safe for my wife, daughters, and son. So it took some thinking, and I finally came to the decision to sell them to one of the latifundia. They will be fed, and have a roof over their head. Being under ownership is a small price to pay for the comforts of food and a home. I hope there is someone who is willing to buy them. It is for the better.
